Description

Students will learn the basic principles of pattern drafting, using his or her own body Body measurement. Students will create Sewing pattern Block for both skirt and Blouse apply darts and empire style line, manipulation of darts, flaring techniques, fullness for both skirt and blouse, facings, and waistbands.

Garments are constructed using Domestic sewing Machine and Industrial Sewing Machine and Serger. Students will have basic homework to take home.

  • Shoulder darts
  • Style lines and princess lines
  • Shaped necklines and facings
  • Introduction to skirts
  • Flares and gores
  • Gathered skirt
  • Pleats skirt x3
  • Circle Skirt
  • Aline Skirt
  • Straight Skirt
  • Individual skirt design, lining, and fitting
  • Create  waistband ( 1 piece, 3 pieces, and 6 piece waistband)
  • Dress block using bodice and skirt blocks
  • Dress styling: Princess lines, shoulder and armhole styling
  • Dress styling:  Empire lines
  • Sleeve block development and verification.  
  • bishop sleeve
  • Sleeve: Elongated armhole
  • Individual dress design with sleeve and collar
  • Dartless blocks

 

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this Academy class the student will be able to:
1. Creat his/her very own  Skirt and Blouse custom block sewing pattern and develop it into a variety of Modestey of styles and shapes by altering the darts, adding style lines, and fullness.
2. Manipulate a basic skirt block creating interesting designs, like Straight, Pencil, flares, gores, Circle, and pleats Skirt. ( Student will learn some skirt as Mini Sample)

3. Draft the dress pattern using bodice and skirt blocks.
4. Designs princess and empire style line using the Blouse block pattern
5. Draft various necklines style line and collars
6. Draft sleeves patterns

7. Peplum Designs

Students can pay in 3 easy installments within one and a half months with-in the program. The class will run 2 days per week Days and time of class will be base on the amount of interest. Total hour spends in class is about 24 hours, Extended hour may be given if needed.
